Side hustle during the holiday season

Refer to any financial success story, and you will often be told of the importance of the “side hustle”. A side hustle is defined by the following statement taken from Entrepreneur

“A side hustle is a way to make some extra cash that allows you flexibility to pursue what you’re most interested in. It can also be your true passion…without quitting your day job.”

In a nutshell, it’s a way to maximise use of your time, and thus maximise your income. Money Marathoners like you and I turn time into money. Therefore, implementing a side hustle is a great way to increase the rate at which we get paid. This in turn will take chunks off our working lives, leaving more time to pursue the life we wish, without monetary limitations.

Side hustle plans

So, back to the title of this post, which gives a huge clue into my idea for the December period.

During another seemingly endless commute, a ray of light shone through via my car radio. “Head to one of our distribution centres and earn a little extra this Christmas”.

The advert was done by Amazon, and featured a very soft female voice, with sleigh bells ringing gently in the background. It sounded wonderful.

Now, I didn’t fall down in the last rain shower, and I’m certainly not naïve. Quite the opposite. I have a pretty specific idea in my mind about what working in this environment will be like at this time of year.* I’m certain it will not be like the Elf movie!

However, the way I see it, you either want the money or you don’t. If work was excellent, then nobody would need to be paid, right?

Get involved

So, for those of you that wish to turn as much time as possible into money this December, why not give this a shot? I will be, and I’ll also post my findings of this experiment right here on the blog.

I’ll include the job requirements and demands, the working hours and conditions, all about the colleagues and/or bosses. And, most importantly I’ll include the exact amount that I receive in cash when all is said and done.

In short, I’ll be the “guinea pig” for all of this blog’s readers.

As always, I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions regarding side hustling, or any other plans that you may have to maximise your earning during December.

*For what it’s worth, I believe that Amazon is an outstanding company. As one of its customers I couldn’t praise the company highly enough. I rarely use any other form of shopping**, what’s the point when Amazon sells literally every conceivable item?!

Technology companies such as Amazon have not only changed the playing field within retail, they’ve changed the entire game.

Traditional retailers have no choice but to adapt, which means better customer service, more convenient methods of shopping, and the best of them all, lower prices!

The winners here are you and I.

This website will in due course detail my findings about the other side of the transaction, and I hope to gain an understanding of what makes this company so efficient, and also how a giant such as Amazon takes care of every little detail, no matter how seemingly small.

**Primark is the only other store that I will regularly visit, and that’s for clothing.
